“Birds and Butterflies”
A Garden Habitat
Birds and butterflies are beneficial to our gardens. They help pollinate plants and eat unwanted insects. The secret to attracting these lovely winged creatures to your garden is to provide them with food, water and shelter.
This garden offers shelter for birds and butterflies with houses and woody plants for protection and nesting sites. Plants are chosen for their butterfly and hummingbird-enticing blooms, others for their fruit and seeds which will feed the birds throughout fall and winter.
The butterfly house enables butterflies to roost at night and to take shelter from rain and wind. A fountain provides fresh water for drinking and bathing. Feeders supply food during winter and early spring.
A winding pea gravel path leads through the garden from the admission gazebo to either side of the driveway. Garden benches welcome visitors to relax while enjoying the sights and the soothing sounds of birdsong and the trickling fountain.
